So last month I made a Sugar Scrub for my niece and thankfully I had some spare for myself as it was delicious! Not that I ate it, but it definitely smelled good enough to eat.
I made her a chocolate orange scrub but you can tailor the ingredients to your individual tastes.
Sugar Scrub Base
Soft Brown Sugar
Carrier Oil - Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Coconut, Olive Oil etc
For a basic sugar scrub all you need is soft brown sugar and a liquid oil. The oil can be any oil you like to use yourself and while we are unable to get what we need, the oil you already have at home will work just fine.
Add the oil to the sugar until you get a wet sand consistency. The oil will rise to the top once it has been left to sit but just give it a stir before using.
For the Chocolate Orange scrub I added a tablespoon or two or cocoa powder and a few drops of Sweet Orange Essential Oil. You can replace the Sweet Orange Essential Oil with any other essential oil you prefer or if you have no essential oil to hand, try an essence that you'd use in cooking.
Make sure you start with small amounts and add more if needed. Also make sure you do a patch test first, especially if you've never tried these ingredients on your skin before.
I use mine in the bath and it's lovely to use while I shave. Make sure that if you use it in the bath that you rinse away the oil afterwards and if you use it in the shower take extra care with the oil in the base of your shower.
Please tag me in any photos if you make it. I'd love to see how yours turn out and which oils you use!
